The Mason Shemo Memorial Scholarship was founded in 2022 by the Shemo Family. The scholarship honors Mason Shemo’s life by providing support to students who want to make a difference in mental health. Donations provided financial assistance for college-bound graduating seniors at North Olmsted High School in North Olmsted, Ohio.

2022-2023

We’re excited to share that we have awarded approximately $3,000 in scholarships to four graduating high school seniors. Applications were reviewed by the family, an outside community member, a licensed therapist and a licensed social worker. The student winners were selected based upon their plans to major in psychology and intentions to work in the mental health field.

2023-2024

Any North Olmsted High School senior who plans to major in social work, counseling or psychology and intends to work in the mental health field may apply.

Students are required to write an essay about a life experience that impacted them, their inspiration for pursuing a career in mental health, their specific career goals, and how they think they’ll make a difference in the field of mental health.
